A standard € 7.50 car charger does not support iPhone or iPod Touch charging as both devices normally communicate with the USB host (computer), to negotiate maximum allowed power consumption. To circumvent this problem, it suffices to insert a resistor ladder between USB+ and USB- leads, which pulls the data lines D+ and D- of the USB connector to satisfy the pod or touch. This particular set of resistor values has been verified with an iPod Touch 2nd gen. It is not known if other generations also work. Of course, I do not accept any responsibility if you follow the hints on this page and destroy your beloved device.
